EXECUTIVE EDUCATION

We offer a portfolio of executive education focused on strategy and innovation. In our territory we have the aspiration to be the best, by offering leading edge contents, combined with proven teaching methods and best global resources.

Results of our research are leveraged in our executive education classes and complemented with content provided by visiting professors. Our faculty is a blend of internal and external resources from the best global business schools, particularly from Harvard Business School.

In 2012 we will offer the following executive courses:

• Executing Strategy;
• Breakthrough Strategic Insight;
• The Future of Innovation;
• Growth;
• Blue Ocean Strategy.

All our 2012 executive courses will have the same two days format, and will be extensively based on case discussions as teaching method. We tend to use the 70/30 formula, i.e. 70% of case work and discussion, 30% of lectures and business testimonials.
The case method is active learning compared to the passive learning used by most of the European Universities and business schools. It is dynamic, participative and fun. At same time the learning is more practical, related to real business situations. The case method calls for discussion of real- life situations that business executives have faced. As you review cases, you will put yourself in the shoes of the managers, analyze the situation, develop recommendations, and present and support your conclusions.

One of the weakness of many Universities, business school and training centres in Europe is that they are anchored to the old lecturing way of teaching. There are three downsides on the learning process when lecturing is the main method: class is passive and, as consequence, the ability to learn is limited by the span of attention that tends to decrease over time; the learning is only theoretical, without application of the presented theory and tools to real business situations; analytical and argumentative skills are not practiced.

On the contrary, cases will sharpen your analytical and logical skills, since you must produce evidence to support your recommendations. In case discussions, instructors will challenge you and your fellow participants to defend your arguments. You will improve both your problem solving and your ability to argue rigorously applied to real business situations.

Because case studies cut across a range of industries and situations, they provide you with an exposure far greater than you are likely to experience in your day-to-day routine. From this you will develop a more general sense of management.
